A Couple Hats

I always tend to over buy yarn for projects and usually have quite a bit left over.  So when I purchased yarn for my current project, I did the math and ordered just what they called for. Well, this time I am running SHORT!

Don't you just want to cry when that happens?  No only will I not get the same dye lot, but now the yarn is no longer on sale and I have to pay full price for 2 balls of yarn.  Woe is me! Well, the order is in and should be shipped soon.

Here are a couple of hats that I made with left overs from previous projects:

This one is my own design, knit for my son who has a huge  head, using left overs from a sweater knit for my daughter:

This one is knit from a pattern I found on Ravelry by Susan Moskwa called Joey.  This one was knit for my son in law with left over yarn from a sweater knit for my grandson.  This was a super fun pattern and it is FREE!

What do you do with your left over yarn?

Yes, I've been a busy gal... knitting away getting ready for the cold weather.  This morning it is a balmy 37 degrees... but it feels alot colder with the wind blowing.

Some great  hand knit hats have found their way in my shops with more to come!  So keep checking back as more get listed.   And stay warm!

Sunday Morning Knit Wit

I don't have a stitch for you today and probably won't until October.

Sometimes life gets in the way of what you love to do and I do believe it is my turn for awhile.  Daryl is on the mends from a foot injury that required surgery and for the next 4 weeks he is totally non-weight bearing. Those of you know that he is a man who rarely sits still, so this is absolutely killing him, but we are looking forward to the future when it will be completely healed and life gets back to normal.

I have been able to squeeze in a few projects here and there and I've expanded my work to include hats.  I've knit hats before, but I was never all that much into them.  I typically don't wear one so hats were not on my top knit list.  But I've been playing around and I think I've found my newest craze!  The are super fun to knit and really don't take all that long to make and you don't need all that much yarn.

Here is a hat that I just listed on etsy this morning.  It is knit with lambswool and is super soft.  The rim is a braided cable and the top is pixie-like beanie.  I love how the cabled edge forms scallops to surround your face.

Next weekend I will have a booth at the Boonville Woodsman's Field Days both on Saturday and Sunday.  If you are in the area, please stop by and say hello!  Our little town will be hopping and there is plenty to do!

So until next time - keep your needles clicking!

Check out these fantastic hats!

And wouldn't my set of bangles go well with the red one!?!

Hooker Spotlight ~ bubblegirlknits

Hooker Spotlight ~ bubblegirlknits

This shop is filled to the brim with gorgeous hand knit and crocheted items for kids. The designs, colors and textures are beyond compare. And you will always find a smiling face! Booties, hats, scarves, dresses, and blankets are a necessity for little ones... buy why not get stylish, colorful and masterfully made?

Lisa tells a bit about herself:
"I live in the village of Brooklin in Ontario, Canada, and am a stay at home to two terrific children. I have been knitting for over 30 years. My mother taught me how to knit when I was 5 years old and I still have the very first thing I ever made, a pair of stuffed panda bears. I taught myself to crochet as a teenager, and I love both forms of needlework equally.

I try to have most of my items made and ready for shipment, but I also do custom orders. It usually takes me a few days for a hat or pair of booties and a week to 10 days for a baby blanket, it might take a little longer for hard to find yarn...sometimes I have to order it.

Most of what I make is machine washable, that's especially important for baby and children's items. In my experience, most knit or crocheted items get better with each wash. Washing instructions are included with each item when it is shipped".
