Taking time to enjoy the season

It always seems that we have plenty of time to get our holiday shopping and and preparations done and then -- wham! The holidays are here and the to-do list is a mile long.  Hurrying and rushing here and there to get things done, holiday parties to go to, people to visit, gifts to wrap, Christmas cards to write and mail... and so little time to really enjoy the season.

Well, Christmas Eve is just 4 days away and I have been busy as a beaver just as everyone else has been. But Friday night we took a little time out and really enjoyed ourselves.  Daryl and I took my mother out to dinner and then went to see "It's a Wonderful Life" at the Capitol Theater in Rome NY. Now, this wasn't like going to the movies as we are used to now.  No.. this was an 'experience' from the past.

I just love old movies and my favorite channel is Turner Classic Movies.  I've seen many of the old B&W movies.  But I have never seen any on the big screen in a theater that has style and character of the past. Sitting in this beautiful theater and escaping into the life of George Bailey really took me away and renewed my holiday spirit.

To end the evening, we went to Mom's house and she served homemade cookies and hot chocolate.  What a great evening we had and it will most likely be my happiest Christmas season memory this year.

Take some time this season to do something that you truly enjoy!

Sounds like a lovely outing and it was capped off just right, momma's hot cocoa is the perfect way to end all cold nights! I want to go walk around Mt. Airy and see all the little shop set ups, nothin' like small town christmas charm.... but we`ll see if we get to squeeze that in! (=
